Unit 3 Project Draft
Unit 3 Project Draft
Text 1:
Target audience: new emerging softball players (or any team sport) specifically kids
Media presentation idea: video
Video Idea: I mentor a new softball player, who wants to join my team I am coaching. She comes from a history of gymnastics (solo sport). She needs to develop the traits to be a team player, as her previous sport relies solely on her performance. Besides just teaching skills, I will be able to illustrate the mentality of a softball player and the attitude necessary to be a successful team player.
Discourse= solo vs team sport
Video Content: New player will exhibit selfishness and a high ego. Other players will be annoyed by the newcomers' dominance and overconfidence. New player will cut the lines, ask for multiple reps, be unwilling to listen to teammates and coaches constructive criticism, fail to take accountability for mistakes, express anger and dissatisfaction with other players' errors.
Moral of Video: Shows discourse between two communities. Encourages willingness to adapt new morals and beliefs to become a part of a new community.
Text 2:
Further explain discourses, and the attributions necessary to become apart of the softball community.
Show how both traits of being a solo and team athlete can contribute beneficially in life outside of sports.
Solo: self-reliance, self-pressure, self-criticism
Team: reliance on other people, support from peers, listening, adapting to people around you
→ All these characteristics can be beneficial when applied properly in other aspects of life. Ex. group projects, jobs, living alone, etc…
